Featherly Farm…ahhhh, my dream. When I grow up I’m gonna be a farmer. I wanna feed people, and I want that food to be the best most nutritious food people have ever eaten. I hope to grow in to an operation that’s somewhere between Joel Salatin’s Polyface Farms and Sepp Holzer’s Krameterhof, of course I’m no spring chicken anymore…but I can still dream…dream when I sleep, and work my hind quarters off when I’m awake trying to move in the direction of self-sufficiency, sustainable agriculture, and providing healthful, nutrient dense foods to my community from the abundance that the Lord God Himself has promised, provided we chose life, and steward His creation as He intended.
Back in February of this year, I thought we’d be here…yet another year, with no end in sight, but to my delight…it seems the Lord is moving us. Back then, I had started a bunch of vegetable plants whose produce I intended to sell this summer. Plans have changed, as I believe we intend to be moving during the harvest season. Plan B was to start seeds and sell starter plants. So here I am.
I began this blog because people mostly wanted to know about the tomatoes I had for sale. I have all the information posted for them, and I’m starting on the hot pepper information. I have a lot of different plants, and they are all getting too big for their britches…so I’m spending a lot of time potting them up to bigger britches. With that, I don’t have that much time to work on posting their info…but I’m trying.
I have a Facebook Fan Page to “like” now…if you click the link to the right that says “Like Featherly Farm on Facebook” it will take you right to it. You can also have a look under categories and see some of the plants I have…I have even added some growing tips too. There is also my 2012 Plant List for everything I at least used to have growing. I live in the Burnsville, Minnesota area and sell locally.
